YING - YANG corner of song titles.
My old flame-->.my new flame.

When it rains in Chicago, it pours jazz musicians....
==============================================================
***********RAVE RE-BOP-BECCA-VIEW REVUE************
==============================================================
ALL kinds of good things happening and have happened.
Malachi at Velvet on Wednesdays. No Exit on Sundays. And Ravinia.

Ravinia Jazz Blast began on Thursday with Mose Allison doing his Mosey
warmup. With Kelly Sill on bass and Bob Rummage on drums. Then Roy Hargrove,
Willie Jones, Herbie (Hancock), Michael (Brecker), and George Mraz,
doing a tribute to Miles and Coltrane. Then it was Steans Institute
for Young Artists Afterglow including Derrick Finch, piano, David Wong, bass,
Brian Palla, drums, Brian Hogans, saxophone, and Andrew Neesley, trumpet...
introduced by Rufus Reid. And don't forget to mention the Original Pin
Stripe Brass Band from New Orleans.

Friday at Ravinia was not anymore disappointing. And it rained. And the
temperatures dropped. And just north of Chicago, the musicians were
pouring on the jazz, and raising the energy levels. Warmup at the Martin
Theatre with Claudia Acuna, vocals, Steve Davis, Trombone, Jason Linder
piano, Reid Anderson, bass, and Gene Jackson, drums. Next on the mainstage,
the Cyrus Chestnut quintet that included Gary Bartz, how do I love thy alto,
let me count the ways, and Stefon Harris on vibes and marimba, Michael Hawkins
on bass, and Neal Smith on drums. How can it get any better? Rollin out
Sonny Rollins quintet plus with Clfton Anderson, trombone, Stephen Scott, piano
Bob Cranshaw, electric bass, Steve Jordan, drums, and Kimati Dinizulu, percussion.
Sonny is just toooooo cool. It was funny to see Gary Bartz watching him from
the wings. The Late Show included Joshua Gallgher, piano, Marco Panascia,
bass, Bryson Kern, drums, Sam Sadigursky, sax, and Michael Easton, sax.

Then if you haven't hit the Showcase for the Dave Holland All STAR band,
get your buns down there. and then late night Green MIll Jam with Ted Sirota
and Cameron and Dan Trudell and Pat Mallinger and etc.

Sunday is Ramsey and Nancy Wilson, and Dave Brubeck at Ravinia.
Sunday afternoon at 4pm at No Exit in Rogers Park with some unusual
pairings. All presentations best enjoyed "LIVE", in living color.
Oh, yes, one more thing...JUNE IS BLACK MUSIC MONTH

BUT 2002 is ZEBRA MUSIC YEAR !! (Auf-wieder-sehen)
